Several years ago when we lived in Arden Hills we bought a sideboard for our dinning room and after moving it several times we tried to sell it. However even though many people loved it, it was either to tall or too long for the uses they had in mind. I was at the point of burning it but it was a quality piece made of oak and I just couldn’t do it. During this last move we decided to get rid of our ancient 500 lbs TV and treat ourselves to a new flat screen tv which lead to a use for the poor dejected sideboard. We needed a different tv table as the one we had wouldn’t work with a flat screen so I decided to remake the sideboard and us it for the new TV. Because it was too tall I had “and her husband” cut the legs down for me. I also wanted it to house the DVD player and all that goes with it so I took out the drawers and had Dave remove the drawer guides. Then I sanded the whole piece down used a tack clothe to remove the dust and spray painted it. . . are you ready for this. . .PINK of all colors. Why I don’t know? because I could? Whatever it works as far as I am concerned. Anyhow after spray painting it I sanded it again to “age” it and top coated it with a mahogany stain. I applied the stain, let it sit for a minute or to and then rubbed it in/off. After it was completed I made a small curtain that I attached with a tension rod to cover the drawer space that was now housing the DVD player and all the cords. So here she is I hope you like her as much as I do. Till next time craft on!
